Vanessa Lively

Lyrics for Let Me Rise

In my reflection I see a beautiful flower / Radiate light for all to see / In my reflection you see a wilting flower / Time goes by, petals fall all around her

Still my strength lets me rise up from the ash / Layers cover everything from the past / And here we breath the particles in the air / So fine you can’t even see they’re really there

So I will rise for all to see that I’m a survivor / Won’t even look around to see if there is another / ‘Cause ash is ash and dust is dust and both will cover / But understand they have no weight but still can smother

So it’s my choice as is with yours to see the flower / That lies inside of me and you and has the power / To overcome the trials of this act of nature / That forces us to see through eyes that are much older

So let me rise, let me rise / I don’t wanna be leading this life / Filled every day with conscience thoughts against the rest / Constant negativity ruling out the best

In my reflection I see a beautiful flower / Radiate light for all to see / In my reflection you see a wilting flower / Time goes by, petals fall all around her

Let Me Rise was recorded in Quito, Ecuador over the course of 6 months. Most of these songs were written while Vanessa was living in South America and feature the musical stylings of artists from several different countries. Driven by Vanessa's distinctive arrhythmic guitar picking and unique voice, this is an album that has stories to tell.
