Lyrics for Worth Fighting For
I was carrying my heart around in a bag / Letting it get heavier as time did drag / Never really questioning or wondering why / Just trying, trying to get by
But I was walking the wrong way down a one-way avenue / And you didn’t think to look, you just only thought of you / Now do you really care about anybody else / ‘Cause it’s a lonely world with nobody but yourself
I went to your house and opened up the door / You looked into my eyes as my heart fell on the floor / Didn’t even flinch while breaking me down / Emptiness flowing out of you was making me drown
And I screamed and cried to nobody at all / ‘Cause nobody was there to watch me fall / Now do you really care about anybody else / ‘Cause it’s a lonely world with nobody but yourself
Well you taught me a lesson about how to forgive / One I thought I knew but now I had to live / ‘Cause it’s really hard to see somebody so cold / Look into your eyes and be so bold, so bold
Well is this what I’ve been fighting for / Is this what I’ve been fighting for / Well is this worth even fighting for / Is this worth even fighting for / Worth fighing for
I was carrying my heart around in a bag / Letting it get heavier as time did drag / Never really questioning or wondering why / Just trying, trying to get by, to get by

Let Me Rise was recorded in Quito, Ecuador over the course of 6 months. Most of these songs were written while Vanessa was living in South America and feature the musical stylings of artists from several different countries. Driven by Vanessa's distinctive arrhythmic guitar picking and unique voice, this is an album that has stories to tell.
